Abstract
Hugh Campbell est ne a Salisbury. Il detient un diplome d’ingenieur en electricite de l’Universite du Nouveau Brunswick. En 1932, il devient officier commissionne dans l’ARC. Lorsque la guerre eclate en 1939, le marechal de l’air Campbell est nomme directeur des programmes d’entrainement au Canada et developpe le Programme d’entrainement aerien du Commonwealth, un reseau d’ecoles de pilotage servant a former les pilotes sous les cieux clairs et securitaires du Canada. En guise de reconnaissance pour cet accomplissement, il est nomme commandeur de l’Ordre de l’Empire britannique (CBE). Il devient plus tard le chef d’etat major de la Force aerienne, un poste qu’il occupe jusqu’en 1958, moment ou la decision est prise d’abolir le programme des CF 105 Arrow.
