Abstract
The cover art for this issue was created by Kalkidan Assefa, an Ottawa-based artist. This year, a number of murals that he created or co-created, celebrating blackness and black trans lives in particular, were defaced with messages targeting his celebrations of black life. We have invited Kalkidan to write a brief piece about this experience and the decolonization or art. This essay is attached in PDF form.
