Un cas unique » : l'expression est reprise plusieurs fois pour évoquer l'École supérieure de politique (Deutsche Hochschule für Politik, DHP) de 1920, date de sa création à Berlin, jusqu'en 1933.Le livre est le catalogue d'une exposition qui s'est tenue en 2008, en partenariat avec la Gedenkstätte Deutscher Widerstand, à l'Institut de sciences politiques de l'Université libre de Berlin (Otto-Suhr-Institut, héritier de la DHP).Sa ligne directrice était de montrer une continuité entre l'ambition initiale de l'institution (qui visait « la diffusion et l'approfondissement de la formation politique et civique dans toutes les couches de la population », d'où l'ouverture des cours aux adultes dans le cadre de la formation continue, y compris aux non bacheliers), et une adhésion majoritaire de ses enseignants et étudiants aux partis de la coalition de Weimar, débouchant à partir de 1933 sur l'engagement résistant d'un nombre important d'entre eux (plus de cent noms répertoriés).
