Les systèmes rééducatifs à paliers (ou classes à paliers) s’avèrent de plus en plus populaires en Amérique du Nord pour les élèves présentant des troubles de comportement (TC). Les éducateurs impliqués manifestent beaucoup de satisfaction à travailler dans un tel système et considèrent ces services comme très efficaces pour aider les élèves ayant un TC. Toutefois, la mise en oeuvre de ce type de services soulève certains problèmes, tant au plan éthique, au plan théorique qu’au plan thérapeutique. Après avoir décrit sommairement les classes à paliers et leur utilisation, cet article brosse un tableau des avantages associés à ce type de service et des principales critiques signalées. Par la suite, une synthèse des résultats des recherches sur leur efficacité est présentée.
