Abstract
Dans ce document, on compare le produit intérieur brut (PIB) par habitant entre les provinces canadiennes de 1990 à 2003. On y examine d'abord les différences relatives du PIB par habitant en dollars courants entre les provinces et au fil du temps. Dans la deuxième section, on décompose la croissance du PIB par habitant en dollars historiques en ses composantes prix/volume afin de déterminer si cette croissance au cours de la période étudiée est attribuable au volume plus élevé de la production réelle ou au prix plus élevé auquel les biens et services produits sont vendus. Dans la troisième section, on examine le rapport entre les augmentations dans la composante du volume (PIB réel par habitant) et les changements dans la productivité ou dans les conditions du marché du travail (les heures travaillées par employé et la proportion d'employés appartenant à la population en âge de travailler).
