Abstract
This book, a synopsis of observations, findings,\nand perspectives from a series of workshops held in\nInuit communities across the Canadian North,\nprovides an overview of environmental changes\ntaking place from the perspectives of community\nresidents. The workshop findings represent an\nimportant first step in the development of international,\nnational, regional, and local understandings\nof environmental change. As Inuit have been\nsaying for many years, and as climate assessments\nand global models predict, the polar regions will be\nfirst and most affected by climate change. It is\nimportant to learn with communities about the\nnature and extent of local impacts and how Inuit\ncan adapt to a changing Arctic.
