Ce travail porte sur la mise en oeuvre d'un algorithme de codage de parole dédié aux prothèses cochléaires. La technique proposée repose sur la quantification vectorielle statistique. L'introduction qui suit survole l'état de l'art des prothèses cochléaires. Dans le deuxième chapitre, on décrit d'abord, d'une façon sommaire, le système auditif et son fonctionnement. Ensuite, on fait un survol des algorithmes de stimulation et des systèmes de prothèses cochléaires qu'on retrouve actuellement. Le troisième chapitre traite de la méthode d'analyse et de codage de la parole basée sur la quantification vectorielle. Dans une première partie, on présente les caractéristiques de la parole et les modèles de son analyse. Dans la deuxième partie, on décrit la théorie de la quantification vectorielle et les différentes étapes qui définiront la technique proposée. Le quatrième chapitre décrit les étapes de la mise en oeuvre de l'algorithme de traitement de parole. Dans un premier volet, on décrit sommairement l'analyseur de parole de Sherbrooke [15] qui servira de plate-forme technologique pour la mise en oeuvre de l'algorithme. Par la suite, on présente les étapes d'implémentation logicielle de l'algorithme et la validation de son fonctionnement. Dans le chapitre 5 quelques stratégies de stimulation qui peuvent être utilisées sont proposées. Celles-ci pourraient servir avec la technique de codage basée sur la quantification vectorielle pour compléter les algorithmes de stimulation et mettre à profit l'originalité de ce travail.
