L’internationalisation constitue un des vecteurs de croissance des entreprises souvent lourd et complexe pour les PME. Dès lors, le dirigeant de PME doit aussi s’appuyer sur des externalités de réseaux lui permettant de déployer son action dans un périmètre suffisamment étendu pour créer de la valeur tout en engageant des ressources mesurées. Dans ce cadre-là, nous avons analysé le rôle des services d’appui des chambres de commerce et d’industrie françaises à l’étranger dans le développement de petites entreprises à l’international. À partir de l’exemple de la CCI française au Japon, nous montrerons dans cet article comment les chambres de commerce françaises à l’étranger s’apparentent, dans leur action, à des clubs d’affaires et jouent un rôle prédominant dans l’installation des entreprises françaises au sein des écosystèmes locaux facilitant ainsi considérablement le processus d’internationalisation des PME, leur permettant de s’affranchir du traditionnel processus d’internationalisation incrémental.
