Technological Development in Gatineau, the Quebec Sector of Silicon Valley North
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The National Capital Region (NCR) of Canada iscomprised of clusters of high-technology firms. In 1969, the original NCRwas extended to include Gatineau, a city in Quebec that neighborsOttawa. In spite of low levels of university, government, and privatesector research, Gatineau's technology sector continues to flourish for avariety of reasons. Initially, the historical background of Gatineau's technology sector isdiscussed, examining its development from the early 1980s to 2003 and thefactors that have influenced its success. The present situation ofGatineau's technology sector is examined, considering the influence ofgovernment programs and of more available venture financing on itsdevelopment. The increase in research centers is also discussed, and sevenresearch centers are profiled. The technological history and trends ofGatineau suggest that it is expanding into the same sectors that havecontributed to Ottawa's successful high-technology sector.Recommendationsto encourage Gatineau’s continued growth and development are presented.(AKP)

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one teacher head, not a consensus.
