Partant du constat que la culture arabo,musulmane, après avoir connu pendant des siècles une reconnaissance de son apport à la civilisation universelle, se retrouve au lendemain du 11 septembre 2001, confondue avec les valeurs les plus négatives, en particulier avec l’intégrisme religieux. Ce dernier fut depuis cette date, le thème récurrent très médiatisé en Amérique du Nord. De proche en proche, la culture arabo,musulmane sera perçue aux yeux de l’opinion publique américaine comme étant le terreau de la violence et l’expression du Mal comme l’a souvent proclamé l’actuel Président américain.En ce sens, il nous a paru pertinent d’aborder la culture arabo,musulmane au travers de ses acteurs les plus évocateurs : les migrants. De fait, nous nous proposons d’analyser à travers le cas du Québec, la pertinence du concept de culture arabo,musulmane telle qu’elle est véhiculée et vécue par ce qu’il convient de dénommer les migrants de la mémoire et de l’histoire. D’où, notre choix de privilégier dans ce cas, l’approche tendant à la caractérisation des cultures en mouvement qui sont en étroite relation avec les rapports internationaux.Il s’agit de s’inscrire dans l’histoire, ce qui revient dans ce cas, à remettre en question les limites des cultures et à valoriser les symbioses constitutives des identités et des appartenances plurielles et flexibles dont les migrants arabo,musulmans en sont les témoins et les acteurs pertinents.
