Abstract
Taken together, the twelve chapters of this book describe emerging patterns of growth and international expansion among small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as SMEs' responses to the ever-changing competitive environment.The volume consists of three parts, all of which examine the basis and requirements of growth and expansion in small firms from a different perspective: the first part is concerned with managing the interactive impact of an enterprise's strategy in relation to its environment, while the theme of the second part is managing the impact of entrepreneurial characteristics on the evolutionary path of small firms' internationalization strategies.The theme of the third part is managing the impact of enabling factors (such as high technology and electronic commerce) that entrepreneurs deploy in order to compete in global markets.The following is a list of the volume's chapters: The Dynamic Impact of Regional Clusters on International Growth and Competition: Some Grounded Propositions, by Hamid Etemad and Hankyu Chu Capital Structure and the Pace of SME Internationalization, by Rod B.
