Abstract
Engang i 1700-tallet endte et par hollandske perler efter en lang rejse som legetoj hojt mod nord i Gronland. Bade glasperler og andre europaeiske ting blev brugt og opfattet pa mange forskellige mader af inuit. Tingenes livsforlob og betydning var staerkt pavirket af de lokale kulturmodes laengde og karakter. Isaer var det afgorende, om inuit var i direkte kontakt med europaeerne eller kun med deres ting.
