RESUMEN El Centro Nacional de Areas Protegidas de Cuba esta desarrollando de conjunto con WWF Canada y expertos nacionales e internacionales, una metodologia para la determinacion de la Capacidad de Carga para Visitantes en las AMP cubanas, ajustada al entorno estrictamente marino. La misma se inicio con la realizacion de un primer taller en el cual se establecio un intercambio inicial de ideas, y se discutieron propuestas y enfoques existentes, obteniendo una primera aproximacion sobre dicha metodologia, la cual posteriormente se ha seguido trabajando, perfeccionando y ajustando, para ser validada y aplicada inicialmente en 2 AMPs cubanas. Esta metodologia se centra en el analisis de cuatro grupos fundamentales de actividades que se desarrollan en las AMP y que son motivo fundamental de acogida de visitantes en las AMP: las playas, las actividades subacuaticas, la pesca deportiva y el desarrollo de vida a bordo de embarcaciones. En este trabajo se establecen tambien, los Indicadores de Monitoreo para cada uno de los grupos, mediante los cuales se puede determinar el grado en que resultan adecuados los limites de Capacidad de Carga establecidos. En esta metodologia se tratan de integrar las bondades de varios tipos de metodos (LAC, VERP, VIM, ROSS, etc.), incluido el de Capacidad de Carga, con el objetivo de determinar cifras o umbrales de partida, bajo hipotesis razonables y precautorias, para dar seguimiento y de ser necesario reajustar las cifras establecidas inicialmente para las AMP.
