Abstract
Key Messages A large body of scholarship focuses on relationships between Aboriginal peoples and the natural environment, but almost no research explores the importance of nature for Aboriginal people living in cities. Interviews with Aboriginal people in Ottawa reveal that nature plays an important role in their lives, that their relationship with nature is conceived of as reciprocal, and that this relationship is practiced in a variety of specific ways. While the city in general is seen as an artificial, human‐created environment, there are certain ways of experiencing nature directly in the urban setting.
