Aucun individu, ni aucune communauté d’ici et d’ailleurs n’est à l’abri d’événements traumatisants, comme les catastrophes naturelles ou technologiques ou celles causées par la négligence ou le désespoir humain. Selon plusieurs experts environnementaux, le réchauffement global de la planète ou l’effet de serre provoquerait de nombreux bouleversements climatiques qui seraient à l’origine de plusieurs désastres naturels, dont des inondations, des glissements de terrain et de graves tempêtes de neige ou de verglas. Au Québec, ces types de désastres perturbent annuellement la vie quotidienne de milliers de citoyens. Plusieurs intervenants rémunérés ou bénévoles oeuvrant dans des organismes communautaires peuvent être en contact direct avec ces victimes pendant ou après ces événements traumatisants. L’objectif de cette séance de formation est de permettre à des intervenants rémunérés ou bénévoles d’organismes communautaires et charitables de participer, dans leur propre région, à un forum qui leur est destiné. Cette activité permet de recevoir des informations et du matériel didactique sur les conséquences des catastrophes et des événements traumatisants, sur la santé des individus et des intervenants et propose quelques stratégies à utiliser pour aider les personnes aux prises avec des problèmes de santé post-désastre.
