Abstract
Cette observation a ete faite par une equipe canadienne au decours d'une etude portant sur 837 sujets hypertendus âges (moyenne d'âge : 80,4 ans) traites pendant 5 ans par nifedipine, diltiazem, verapamil, diuretiques de l'anse, beta-bloqueurs, inhibiteurs de l'enzyme de conversion ou anti-hypertenseurs. Le risque de mortalite est apparu significatif pour la nifedipine (1,82 ; CI 95 % : 1,09-3,04) compare aux beta-bloquants. Ce risque etait plus eleve pour les fortes doses : 2,19 (1,19-4,03) au-dela de 40 mg/j et 1,50 (0,74-3,02) en deca de 30 mg/j. Le risque est majore par d'autres facteurs comme l'usage d'une forme retard et le debut du traitement. A suivre.Maxwell C.J., et al. 2000.
