Abstract
In this article, we focus on the prohibition of cumulation of the office of defender of the bond with other offices and functions in the organization of an ecclesiastical tribunal. Has the Instruction Dignitas connubii (2005) modified the prohibition found in the 1983 Code or has it just specified it? The articles from Dignitas connubii on impossible cumulation of offices explain much better than the Code where the problems occur when the same person is cumulating offices and functions. The Instruction Dignitas connubii especially wants to prevent abuse, misinterpretation and partiality. We show that the Instruction does not exceed the legal limits of an instruction and it ensures a fairer administration in the Church.
