Der Beitrag analysiert anhand der „Standards der Informationskompetenz fur Studierende“ (Netzwerk fur Informationskompetenz Baden-Wurttemberg 2006), welche Potenziale das studentische Suchverhalten in Discovery-Systemen und deren Philosophie fur die Informationskompetenzvermittlung bieten. Dabei verschiebt sich der Fokus auf Schulungsinhalte, fur die sich Bibliothekare die Verantwortung mit Hochschullehrenden teilen: Definition des Informationsbedarfs, Formulierung von Suchstrategien und Suchbegriffen sowie Informationsbewertung und -verarbeitung.
