Abstract
The different groups we belong to and the language we use to describe ourselves influence the development of our professional identity. Identity is developed as a participant in a program and certain components of programs provide opportunities for this social learning By considering commonly experienced learning opportunities, this work in progress considers how engineering undergraduates in Canada develop professional attributes which complement their technical attributes in becoming an ethical 21 <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">st</sup> Century engineer.
