Abstract
Australian Prime Minister John Howard visited Washington, Ottawa and Dublin. His government came out with a successful budget showing solid fundamentals but the success of the budget again depends on the economic stability of the United States and its relationship with China. John Howard should try to gain the interest of the US in the failed economies and collapsing polities in the western Pacific including the Solomon Islands, East Timor, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
