Abstract
En novembre 2009, le dévoilement du Projet de politique québécoise de gestion des matières résiduelles et du Programme de traitement des matières organiques par biométhanisation et compostage, jumelé à un fonds de 650 M$, a clairement indiqué la volonté politique du gouvernement québécois de mettre en valeur les matières organiques résiduelles d’ici 10 ans. La biométhanisation offre des opportunités très intéressantes et au 25 août 2009, déjà huit municipalités avaient démontré leur intention d’utiliser ce procédé, contre seulement une pour le compostage. La biométhanisation permet la génération de grandes quantités de biogaz qui constitue une forme d’énergie verte et renouvelable. Il devient donc intéressant d’identifier le potentiel énergétique et les gains environnementaux générés par la biométhanisation des résidus organiques en fonction du rendement des technologies et des usages employés.
