Abstract
A discussion on the origins of Aboriginal homelessness in Canada and its impact on Indigenous communities is presented. The huge rise in homelessness during the 1990s is attributed to the Government's failure to develop new subsidised affordable housing and the increase in residential real estate prices. The article also explores the link between Aboriginal homelessness and the history of colonisation in Canada. The need for effective government policies to address Aboriginal homelessness is highlighted.
