A data analysis method was developed for the interpretation of the electrochemical impedance spectra of electrodes with a layered structure. This method was successfully applied to the study of a layered titanium-supported antimony-tin oxide anode material which had an artificial passive layer. The time constant spectrum showed a distribution of resistance across a wide range of time constants associated with the non-stoichiometric structures of titanium oxide. From this spectrum, the resistance from the electrode material was extracted using deconvolution, and was found in agreement with the value estimated from the distortion of the cyclic voltammogram in ferrocyanide solution.
