À l'occasion d'une de ces expositions commémoratives qui, en Allemagne, sont de véritables institutions (voir par exemple « L'année ottonienne » dans le présent Bulletin), ce ne sont pas moins de huit recueils d'articles qui, sous le titre générique de Riss im Himmel (« la fêlure dans le ciel »), ont été consacrés à l'archevêché de Cologne à l'époque moderne.Certains volumes traitent de l'histoire de l'art, d'autres des évolutions politiques, sociales, économiques, ou encore de la ville (d'Empire) de Cologne ; tous sont richement illustrés et celui-ci, portant sur la vie religieuse, n'échappe pas à cette règle.
