Abstract
Small business is an important element of market economy without which the state cannot effectively function. This part of economy in many respects defines rates of economic growth, structure and quality of total national product, forming its considerable share. In Russia small business is at the development initial stages, the indicators far lagging behind civilized level of industrially developed countries. Dynamical development of small business is impossible without participation of the state; it is clearly visible on an example of such developed countries such as: the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany. Experience of development of small business in these states is considered in given article.
