Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We explore the question of co-movements among various economies by measuring correlation coefficients between the US equity market and 23 other markets, for the period January 1, 1988 through June 30, 2000, using daily data from Morgan Stanley Capital International. We show that, measured in US dollars, correlations between the US and other equity markets did not increase during the 1988 to 2000 period. We also show that, measured in local currency, these correlations between equity markets did increase during the same period, while correlations among currencies decreased. Our interpretation is that, despite greater economic cooperation in the 1988 to 2000 period, there has been no significant reduction in the benefits available from diversifying internationally, because the two effects offset one another.

Fetched live from OpenAlex and de-inverted. Abstracts are not stored in this database: the inverted indexes are 8.6 GB of the frame’s 9.3 GB of text, and the host has 13 GB free.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
