Cet article se penche sur le concept de simulacre dans le dernier téléthéâtre original composé par Hubert Aquin, Double sens . Nous verrons, dans un premier temps, que lors de l’écriture de sa dramatique, Aquin s’est inspiré des conceptions épicurienne et lucrétienne du simulacre afin d’établir une idée de l’intertextualité valorisant l’accumulation parfois pléthorique des références et le brouillage des sources. Nous observerons ensuite que dans son travail d’adaptation du téléthéâtre aquinien, le réalisateur Louis-Georges Carrier a cherché à transposer à l’écran les préoccupations esthétiques du télédramaturge au moyen d’images surmultipliées et artificialisées, véhiculant ainsi une conception particulière du média télévisuel, selon laquelle le petit écran est un producteur privilégié de simulacres. À la lumière de nos observations, nous constaterons qu’Aquin et Carrier partagent une même vision de l’écriture pour la télévision, marquée par une forte volonté de complexifier et de déréaliser les signes, qu’ils soient écrits ou visuels.
