Abstract
This conclusion highlights that all counseling and psychotherapy has a cultural component as it is “embedded in distinctive socio-cultural milieus”. Discussing the analysis of the cases presented in this book, the chapter the talks about the dominance of the Western Eurocentric models inherent across all chapters, with the exception of the Nigeria case and, the West Africa case. It offers a broad and cursory overview of some of the main themes and ideas that emerge in the chapters. First, the chapter discusses how culture, gender, and social class issues interact in a multicultural and diversity context. This reflection leads to a discussion of the therapeutic integration and the collective self, followed by an exploration of the divided subject, body, mind, and spirit, that featured prominently in many cases. Finally, the chapter looks at the question of case study evaluations and its value in forming generalizations across borders.
