Abstract
Les valeurs et les principes de l’économie sociale (ÉS) semblent s’arrimer naturellement aux principes de la responsabilité sociale des entreprises (RSE), voire en constituer une certaine garantie. Un examen plus attentif de la RSE en contexte d’ÉS permet toutefois de nuancer ce portrait. D’une part, des critiques s’élèvent à l’égard du bilan social de l’ÉS ; on peut se demander si ses principes permettent d’atteindre les objectifs de la RSE et dans quelles mesures ils le font. D’autre part, il est permis de croire que la préoccupation grandissante relative à la RSE provoque une érosion de l’avantage concurrentiel des entreprises d’ÉS. Dans le présent article, nous traçons le portrait des convergences et des divergences entre les principes de l’ÉS et ceux de la RSE, de manière à esquisser les limites et les obstacles d’un rapprochement qui pourrait sembler aller de soi, mais qui se révèle complexe et ambigu.
