Édités par John Zorn, les sept volumes qui composent la série de livres Arcana nous plongent dans un univers artistique dont le centre de gravité se situe à New York, quelque part non loin du Stone, le club de Zorn où peuvent s’exprimer en toute liberté musiciens avant-gardistes de la scène locale et internationale. Pour cette enquête, nous avons passé en revue l’entité littéraire de cet univers. Ancrée dans les processus de création et pratiques interprétatives, zigzaguant entre poésie et discours plus académiques, fer de lance de la promulgation des individualités artistiques, cette collection de textes écrits par des musiciens nous montre une autre façon de parler de la musique, dans toutes ses incarnations professionnelles.
