Abstract
Au debut du XIXe siecle, les chaussures etaient difficiles a trouver, tant et si bien que les pionniers demandaient souvent a leur famille de leur en envoyer. De nombreuses chaussures etaient alors importees des Etats-Unis et d'Europe. Par la suite dans le courant du siecle, un nombre croissant de chaussures ont ete fabriquees au Canada. Des artisans fabriquaient les chaussures pour le travail ou pour les loisirs de plein air, destinees a etre portees au quotidien ou pour des occasions speciales
