La couverture mediatique de la JIF 2005 au Canada anglais et au Quebec, produite majoritairement par des femmes, est surtout d'interet local, la dimension internationale servant le plus souvent de faire-valoir a la realite canadienne et quebecoise. Le feminisme est peu cite mais souvent en filigrane, a la fois l'objet de dures critiques et de joyeux eloges. Les medias canadiens anglais ont ete plus sensibles a l'information promotionnelle de l'organisme feministe federal au sujet de la jif et ceux du Quebec, a une actualite marquee par la « question masculine ». Les differences observees entre les journaux et les textes d'un meme quotidien temoignent par ailleurs de la marge de manoeuvre dont disposent les journalistes au pays, meme dans les medias conservateurs
