Abstract
This study examines the effects of certain cultural factors - social perspective, family ideology and religious orientation - on moral development as defined by Lawrence Kohlberg. Four groups, characterized as secular western, traditional western, secular non-western and traditional non-western, were investigated to see if any differences in moral development could be determined and also to see if these differences could be attributed to the factors listed above. It was found that there was no difference between the groups on the moral development factor. There was some difference found between the groups on the social and religious factors. It was also found that socialization skills and the religious factor did have significant effect upon moral development.
