Las cartas que conservo Genaro Estrada (1887-1937) de Ramon Gomez de la Serna (1881-1963) pertenecen al periodo argentino de este. Cabe recordar que ese escritor espanol, renovador de la prosa castellana, ya tenia fuertes vinculos con el Rio de la Plata a partir de los anos veinte. En esa epoca gozaba de mucha fama y colaboraba en Sintesis y en La Nacion. El mundo intelectual de Buenos Aires le tenia mucha admiracion y lo recibio con gran entusiasmo cuando piso tierra argentina por primera vez en 1931 invitado para dar una serie de conferencias. Tambien aprovecho este primer viaje para conocer Uruguay y Chile. En ese mismo ano empezo a colaborar en Sur, la nueva revista de Victoria Ocampo, con un texto sobre Diego Rivera.
