Abstract
La contribution des musées au projet colonial des puissances européennes a été et est encore fortement critiquée. Dans la foulée des mouvements de revendication autochtones des années 1960, diverses stratégies ont été ainsi mises de l’avant dont l’objectif est, pour les Autochtones, d’exercer un contrôle sur la manière dont leur culture est préservée, interprétée et valorisée. Ce mouvement s’est concrétisé notamment par le rapatriement d’objets et de restes humains, la création de centres culturels et de musées autochtones ainsi que par des modalités de collaboration renouvelées entre les collectivités autochtones et les musées. Il a également donné naissance à des discours remettant en question la rationalité de la muséologie occidentale prônant sa décolonisation. C’est ce dernier aspect qui fait l’objet de cet article. À travers l’analyse de récits de pratique de muséologues autochtones, nous tenterons de saisir la manière originale par laquelle ces intervenants affirment, par eux-mêmes et au quotidien, une pratique muséologique correspondant à leurs valeurs.
