Les données présentées ici sont tirées de deux recherches doctorales, en partie réalisées sur un même terrain d’enquête : la conception de jeux vidéo à Montréal. Les auteurs ont recours au concept de culture de convergence développé par Henry Jenkins pour saisir l’enchevêtrement contemporain des sphères du loisir et du travail, des mondes de la consommation et de la production. Plus précisément, des travailleurs, influencés par la culture de la convergence, développent une culture populaire spécialisée qui doit être lue en regard des spécificités et des exigences de leurs activités professionnelles, en particulier l’impératif de saisir l’expérience des publics. Ont été rencontrés en entretien 32 concepteurs industriels de jeux vidéo ainsi que 11 artistes numériques.
