Abstract
Bu makalede 1915 olaylarına dair araştırmalardaki metot eksiklikleri ve olayların yorumlanmasına yönelik sübjektif yaklaşımlar eleştirilmektedir. Yazar, 24 Nisan 1915 tarihinde Ermeni komitelerinin kapatılması ve lider kadrolarının tutuklanmasından itibaren olayların Türk ve Ermeni tezlerini savunan tarihçiler tarafından ele alınışını belgeler ışığında değerlendirmektedir. Yapılan değerlendirmede 24 Nisan 1915 tutuklamalarının Ermenilerin imha operasyonuna hazırlık olduğu iddialarının temelsiz olduğu, tehcir kararının meşru bir güvenlik önlemi olarak uygulandığı ve Ermeni isyanlarının bu süreci hazırladığı belirtilmektedir. Ayrıca tehcir edilen insan sayısı, yolculuk esnasında meydana gelen ölümlerin oranı konusundaki bulguların duyumlara dayandığı, kayıp sayısının ise çok abartıldığı arşiv belgeleri ışığında ortaya konulmaktadır. Yazar, makalesinde belgeler ışığında 1915 olaylarının yeniden ele alınmasının gerekliliğinden hareketle, T.C. Başbakanının Türk-Ermeni tarihçilerinden oluşan bir komisyonun tartışmalı olan bu dönemi birlikte incelemesi çağrısının tutarlı olduğunu belirtmektedir.
