Abstract
Dawn detarando and Brian McArthur have built a reputation for creating offbeat, quirky pieces of public art that get the community talking. But when they proposed a pair of feet topped by disembodied legs that would stand 20 feet tall on a newly built Edmonton Transit System (ETS) platform in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (their response to a 2008 call for public art submissions) they doubted they would be chosen by the city. They suspected their vision might be too whimsical. But it was what they wanted to do and the co-owners of Voyager Art and Tile are consistent in their wish to succeed on their own terms.
