Stratigraphy and Petrography of Viking Sandstones in the Bayhurst Pool Area, Southwestern Saskatchewan
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The Atbian Viking Formation is an eastward prograding, wave-dominated clastic wedge underlain and overla-in by marine shales. dil and gas pools in the Vikiig F-ormation consist of stratigraphic and structural traps with-in linear sandstone bodies, generaliy oriented northwest-southeast, mimicking the shoreline as it moved landward or seaward with chan{es in rilative sea level. This study focuses on .the Bayhurst Gas Pool, Townships 2.3 to_26 and Ranges 24W3 to ZdW3, an area of about 87 square miles 1225 km'), and time-equivalent strata along the shoreline and basinward. Core and well-log cross sections, together with sedimentary facies maps, illuslrate the slratigraphic and reservoir architecture of tli-e Bayhurst Gas Pool, characterized by units separated by flogding -1urfa_ces, seque, nce boundaries and ravinemint surfabes. The reservoirs include sandstones of an incisedvalleyfill ary1 of an older retrograding barrier-island system, which unconformably overlie shoreface and shelf deposils. The reservoir is cappe_d, by transgressive marine shales of thb Westgate Formation'. Preliminary petrographic- studies indicate Vtktng. sanditones can be characterizeV as calcareous sublitharenite, litharenite and lithic wacke. PorosiQ values based on point counting range from I to 24%t, with highest values in,the valley-fill and barrier-island facies. Porosity is mostly primary annoigh minor dissolution features exist. Cementation (quqrtz overgrowths and carbonate) _is minor ihrougiout, excipt at the top of the Viking Formation where massive calcite cement completely occludes the porosity. Fluid inclusions in -caicite cemeits are all monophase (liquid-only), indicating relatively low

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; a candidate call from one source (direct Gemma or distilled Codex), not a consensus.
