Abstract
Working at an Alternate Secondary School poses unique challenges and opportunities. The students in the grade 11 and 12 program are at high-risk not to graduate. All students have an Individual Education Program (IEP) tailored to their specific circumstances. These youth at risk students are complex and have many emotional, social, physical, and mental blocks to learning (Bennett & Rolheiser, 2001). Many students have learning disabilities, moderate to severe mental health problems, or social problems. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
