Abstract
Since the mid-1980s, economic transition has touched nearly one-third of the world's population. After over ten years of diverse experiences, it appears that the transition can take several forms. Economic change in a given country is not a part of a linear movement, mimetic of transformations carried out in other countries. Far from any deterministic vision, some authors have acknowledged the potential of variations in the transitions, for example, under the effect of a strong structural inertia that is proper to each country. The matter in question is then of bringing out the originality factors specific to a country, such as Vietnam, that may act as a brake to the transition. The hypothesis is that inertia factors can be isolated at the level of national culture, and the institutional and ideological frame.
