Abstract
With marketing channels having largely been established in the South African agricultural environment, it happens less and less that farmers start producing a product, immediately taking responsibility for its processing and marketing. Even less common is for such a processing initiative to grow into a prominent and prized trademark in that industry. That is why the success achieved by Kevin Lang of Fairfield Dairy near Curry's Post in KwaZulu-Natal, speaks volumes. He farms on 740 hectares with 100 Ayrshire and 200 Holstein cows. He also has a red Angus herd and a Quarter Horse stud on another farm in the area.
