Abstract
Archeologický výskum Kostola sv. Egídia realizovaný v roku 2013 v rámci pripravovanej pamiatkovej obnovy objektu umožnil rekonštruovať dosiaľ neznámu podobu pôvodného románskeho kostola a priniesol nové poznatky ohľadom jeho založenia a stavebného vývoja. Pôvodný, dnes už takmer kompletne zaniknutý kostol tvorila stavba s kvadratickým presbytériom (4,3 × 3,8 m) a pomerne veľkou loďou (14,3 × 6,0 m). Výskum umožnil definovať stavebný vývoj kostola z archeologického hľadiska ( t. j. v úrovni základov) nasledovne: 1. etapa – výstavba románskeho kostola (4. štvrtina 11. až 1. polovica 12. storočia), 2. etapa – prístavba veže (gotika), 3. etapa – výstavba staršej krypty (1622–1724 / 1674?), 4. etapa – výstavba exteriérovej suterénnej stavby (novovek – 1724/1724?), 5. etapa – baroková prestavba kostola a výstavba mladšej krypty (1728–1742), 6. etapa – prístavba pri veži kostola (19. storočie / pred 1896).
