Les plans urbains conçus par la colonisation française pour Bône (actuellement Annaba en Algérie) n’ont jamais été traités. Ils représentent non seulement deux temps forts de l’histoire de l’urbanisme de la ville mais ils sont aussi une illustration de l’application de modèles classiques dans la composition urbaine. Dans cet article, nous présentons les éléments qui contribuent à en identifier la conception. L’examen de ces plans (le plan d’alignement de 1855, dressé par l’architecte de la ville, tout aussi bien que le plan d’aménagement, d’embellissement et d’extension de 1932-1933 fait par l’équipe d’urbanistes Danger) en révèle le conformisme aux géométries classiques (tracés, parcellaire, fronts bâtis), alors que leurs concepteurs ont pratiqué des univers différenciés. Aux similitudes des dessins des plans, s’ajoutent des continuités en termes de thèmes et de dispositions contenues dans les deux cas. Mais le plan de Danger qui coïncide aussi avec la structure de la ville revêt une importance plus grande du fait de la réponse qu’il apporte aux questions esthétiques et fonctionnelles mais surtout celle de la circulation face à quoi le plan Gonssolin évoque surtout une préoccupation esthétique.
