Abstract
The review presents data on the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, and classification of the main types of von Willebrand disease. Special attention is paid to optimization of the diagnosis and therapeutic strategy. The activities of hemophilia centers of some central and Northern European countries, USA, and Canada are analyzed. Indications for therapy by desmopressin or von Willebrand factor-balanced concentrated factor VIII preparations are defined for various groups of patients.
