Abstract
The article is dedicated to the research of the leading directions of church historical science in the Russian ecclesiastical academies of the second half of the XIX the first quarter of the XX century. Such directions as general church history, the Russian Orthodox Church history, the Slavic churches history, the Byzantine Empire history, the history of the Old Belief, sectarianism, Common Faith etc. are considered. The author reveals general tendencies, characterizes the key themes and subjects interesting for church historians, points out the outcomes achieved by the first decades of the XX century.
