O conceito de resiliência remete à capacidade do ser humano de responder às demandas da vida cotidiana de forma positiva, apesar das adversidades que enfrenta ao longo do seu ciclo vital de desenvolvimento. O objetivo deste estudo foi estudar a influência da resiliência na dor crônica de idosos. Foi realizado um estudo observacional de corte transversal e de coorte. A amostra foi composta por 128 idosos (> 60 anos), sendo divididos em dois grupos, com e sem dor crônica. A resiliência foi avaliada em todos os indivíduos, através da Escala de Resiliência. Os indivíduos com dor crônica, que realizaram fisioterapia, foram avaliados inicialmente, através da Escala Visual-Analógica de Dor (EVA), Questionário de Dor McGill e Questionário de Crenças do Medo e Evitamento (QCME). Após as 10 sessões de fisioterapia, foram reavaliados através dos mesmos instrumentos. A população em estudo tinha média de idade de 70,3 anos, e a média de resiliência da população estudada foi de 147,7 pontos, indicando elevado nível de resiliência. Observou-se que, o grupo de idosos com faixa etária entre 60-64 anos apresentou um escore de resiliência menor, quando comparado aos outros grupos. Comparando-se o índice de dor antes e depois da fisioterapia, através dos instrumentos acima citados, houve diferença estatisticamente significante, menos para a categoria atividade física do QCME. Correlacionando estes dados com a resiliência, não houve associação entre resiliência e dor crônica, e nem resiliência com uma melhor resposta ao tratamento fisioterapêutico. Foi observado em nosso estudo que a resiliência não influencia a melhora da dor crônica de idosos. Porém, sugere-se outros estudos com uma amostra maior de idosos com dor crônica.
