Abstract
La dictadura militar en Chile trajo consigo la migracion forzada de miles de chilenos, provocando de esta manera la conformacion de comunidades transnacionales chilenas en distintos paises de acogida. Como efecto de esto se encuentra la redefinicion identitaria de los exiliados, ya que al verse obligado a abandonar su pais de origen buscan los medios para seguir relacionados con el, tales como la memoria y los simbolos, los cuales entran en contacto en diversos espacios sociales. El objetivo general del articulo es analizar la redefinicion identitaria de migrantes transnacionales chilenos residentes en Vancouver, Canada, en contexto de Dictadura Militar de Chile de 1973-1990. Se entendera por transnacionalismo la relacion que establece un grupo de migrantes con su lugar de origen, en el cual influyen distintos simbolos con los que se sienten identificados y que los orientan a representar su sentido de pertenencia. Siguiendo esta misma linea, identidad sera entendida como una construccion subjetiva a traves de simbolos y sociabilizacion, la que puede ir modificandose o readaptandose segun las experiencias vividas.
