Abstract
Antibodies that are specific for phosphorylated residues are extremely important for research on signal transduction pathways. With these reagents one can follow a signal transduction pathway using simple immunoblotting techniques. Although many of these antibodies are commercially available, new phosphorylation sites are being found at a rapid pace and it is useful to understand what is required to make one’s own phosphopeptide-specific antibody. In this chapter, I will review our laboratory’s experience in producing and using these antibodies with specific reference to antibodies against sites phosphorylated in protein kinase C (PKC).
