Abstract
Durante las últimas dos décadas gran parte de la literatura contemporánea maya de Guatemala se ha centrado temáticamente en la reafirmación de una identidad étnica que hace énfasis en la continuidad de su cultura e historia milenaria. Estas producciones discursivas son instrumentales para el movimiento maya ya que visibilizan sus luchas por los derechos culturales, sociales, económicos y políticos en dicho país. Dentro de estas prácticas literarias, los textos de las mujeres mayas expanden dicho corpus al enfocarse también en las experiencias específicas de sujetos femeninos indígenas y evidenciar su lucha en contra de los legados (neo) colonialistas, los cuales también mantienen un sistema patriarcal racista. Este artículo examina la manera en que los poemas en La rueda de Maya Cú Choc (maya Q’eqchi), representan el cuerpo femenino maya como un texto donde se articula la opresión de estos legados (neo) colonialistas, y también se pronuncian los deseos emocionales, sociales y políticos del sujeto femenino. De esta manera, al incorporar otras subjetividades femeninas que incluyen activamente las experiencias amorosas así como perspectivas socio-políticas e históricas de las mujeres mayas, el poemario complementa y expande los parámetros de análisis sobre las literaturas indígenas.
